We’ve got a new design!
Here at Punchcast we’ve been working hard to make it easier for you to share and find things you care about. A big part of that is the way the site looks and feels. We’ve unveiled a new design, and we’re really happy with what we see. There’s little change in the way Punchcast works - but it feels good.

You can now post your favorite GIFs on Punchcast!
The Web loves GIFs and so do we. There’s nothing quite like finding a GIF to watch over and over again. That’s what’s so cool about GIFs is that they’re meant to be watched OVER and OVER. From funny to disturbing, to downright cool, there’s basically a GIF for any occasion. On Punchcast you can post a GIF, respond to a post with a GIF and follow the GIFs tag.
What is a GIF?
Wikipedia tells us that GIFs are
“a bitmap image format that was introduced by CompuServe in 1987”
Well that’s crazy. They’re a relic of a time we call the pre-World Wide Web. I don’t think anyone ever thought they’d still be this popular in 2012, but let’s face it. GIFs are huge.

Specifically we’re looking for a UX / UI Designer that:
Has a solid understanding of design principles, web UI / UX and product design.
Must be able to apply these principles to develop creative and novel UI / UX solutions.
Is able to implement these solutions using html and CSS3.
Has a deep understanding of how the web works.
Has 3+ years experience as a web UI/UX designer.
Must be capable of leading the conceptual and stylistic direction for the design of Punchcast as a whole.
Has a real passion for designing for the social web.

Punchcast @joyride150
After attending the 2012 Toronto BMX Jam and seeing the incredible Drew Bezanson kill it on the Jam course, I knew I had to try BMX. I watched Drew just a few days before drop in from the rafters — imagining myself doing the same. Up at Joyride150 in Markham, I got my chance to ride and we managed to capture it.
This was the easy course, and I’m happy to say I killed it. That easy course had no idea what happened to it! In all honesty, I felt like I was going much faster than I appear to be traveling. Overall though, it was a blast riding around. I even saw Drew Bezanson practicing, which is a treat in itself. If anyone’s looking for 90,000 square feet of BMX heaven, Joyride150’s your spot.
There’s been a bunch of awesome BMX videos, pics, info and posts on Punchcast — which is one of the reasons we went up to Joyride150. We wanted to see what it was all about — and it was awesome!

Punchcast private beta is live!
This has been a big week for Punchcast. We’ve officially launched our private beta, and so far - so good. Its been fun having people finally in the system. It was a little bit like a first date, it was freaky at first, but once things started picking up, it was all cool.
It’s a private beta, so we’re still testing stuff out. Our beta users are giving us feedback, and overall, it’s pretty wicked. If you want in on this private beta, throw down your email address @ http://www.punchcast.com and we’ll hook you up.
